We are responsible for maintaining and providing the 18,000 street lights in the Borough of Poole.
It is easy to find out what street lighting is near any property in Poole by using our interactive mapping system Your Poole.
If you notice a fault with a street light, for example one that is not working during the hours of darkness, or is working during daylight hours, then please report it to us using the link to the right of this page. Please let us know;
- what street the light is in,
- what property it is outside and
- the number of the street light (this can be found on the street light itself).
We are also responsible for the provision and maintenance of the illuminated signs and illuminated bollards throughout the Borough. Any faults with these can be reported to us by using the same method as above.
Part Night Lighting
The Borough of Poole is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and seeks to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by April 2013. Street lighting accounts for approximately a quarter of the Borough’s entire carbon footprint and is an area where potential savings need to be considered.
Part night lighting trials, where street lights are automatically switched off between approximately midnight and 6am, were introduced in a small number of residential roads in Poole during 2009/2010, with some 150 lights in 18 streets being switched off during the above times.
After extensive post trial consultation, these trials were deemed to be a success and the extension of the scheme on a wider scale (Phase 2) is now being considered for potential introduction in the 2012/13 financial year, subject to the views of residents.
Further information on part night lighting and the results of the previous trials can be found by using the links to the right of this page.
