How to determine if a tree is covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or falls within a Conservation Area

To find out if a TPO is in force on a particular tree or whether it falls within a Conservation Area, please use our ‘Your Poole link will open in new window’ facility.

1. Go to Your Poole link will open in new window and enter the postcode or address of the area the tree is located and select ‘Go’.

2. A list of addresses matching the supplied postcode or address details will be displayed. Select the desired address. If none of the addresses are correct, select ‘amend your search’ and if possible enter alternative details.

3. Click on the ‘Planning’ link. If you wish to change the address you are searching on, select ‘New address search’

4. Displayed on the screen under the Planning heading are several display options. Click 'Tree Preservation & Conservation'. You are also advised click on to Important Information about Trees in Conservation Areas

5. Select each option in turn from the list and click the Show Selection button. The map will then show any trees or groups of trees with associated Tree Preservation Orders which will be denoted according to the key. Additionally, any trees  indicated as falling within a conservation area will be covered by a TPO.

6. Clicking on the circles or crosshatched area will display on the screen information detailing the TPO in affect on the selected tree or groups of trees.
