Community Day at Rossmore Library

The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Joyce Lavender will be launching an activity day at Rossmore Library and Learning Centre on Monday 11 August.

A range of services and advice will be on offer from 11am, including children's activities such as badge making, face painting and Yugioh card games.

Reiki and Indian head massages from trained therapists are just some of the treats on offer to adults for a small charge.

Representatives from Citizens Advice Bureau link will open in new window, Dorset Police link will open in new window and the Dorset Fire and Rescue service link will open in new window will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice and help.

For the heath conscious, a blood pressure nurse will be at the event to provide information, help and promoting good health and well-being.

Urban heath rangers from Borough of Poole will run children's workshops to raise awareness of the importance of our local heath land between 11am and 1pm.

Discover your family story and trace your family tree on the Ancestry link will open in new window website from 2pm until 4pm.

Refreshments will be available to buy throughout the day and visitors can spoil themselves with cream teas from 2.30pm.

Cllr Peter Adams, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: "Since Rossmore library opened we have seen a tremendous increase in local people using the service. It is also a wonderful chance to show other invaluable opportunities available to the community."

Kevin McErlane, Head of Culture and Community Learning, Borough of Poole, said: "Offering a wide range of services at Rossmore Library and Learning Centre, which includes a computer suite and an excellent children's library, demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that libraries are central to local community activities."

Entrance to the event is free and is open to the local community and visitors.
