New Mobile Library Launched

Mobile LibraryBorough of Poole's new mobile library can now be seen around the streets of Poole with its unique, eye-catching design making it easy for residents to spot.

The library will visit areas of Poole not covered by branch libraries including; Wallisdown, Bearwood and Merley as well as sheltered housing complexes and residential homes across Poole.

The new vehicle carries hundreds of books including best-selling fiction, large print, audio books and books for children.

Poole's Mobile LibraryThe mobile library benefits from easy access steps, a wheelchair lift, heating and air conditioning.

Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community Support, said; "This service is extremely useful for those people who are not able to visit the library or do not have a branch in their area. We recognise that libraries are an important part of the community and hope to encourage people who are not regular library visitors to use this service and enjoy the benefits."

Kevin McErlane, Head of Culture and Community Learning, Borough of Poole, said; "This new vehicle represents a significant investment in Poole's library service. We have improved access and filled the vehicle with new stock. Following consultation with residents we have even added some extra stops to make it easier for more people to use our service. We look forward to welcoming all our existing users and many new ones to this great new asset for Poole."
