Libraries Seek Help For The Housebound

Can you come to the rescue of the housebound? More volunteers are badly needed by Poole's libraries to assist with the delivery of books and tapes to people in their own homes in Poole.

"Volunteers are vital to the effective delivery, literally, of the library service to those unable to get to a library. We very much appreciate their help, always cheerfully given, and I know the housebound do too", said David Parish, Customer Services Manager for the Library service.

"Many of these people live alone. Some may have few other contacts and look forward to the delivery of books or tapes, both a source of pleasure. The regular arrival of a volunteer is a lifeline and can lead to the development of real friendship".

If you have your own transport, can provide references and could lend a hand once every 3 weeks, then the library and the people it helps would love to hear from you. Contact Jean Phelps on 01202 746023 during office hours (not Wednesdays).
