Poole Agenda 21 are asking local people for their views on the environment, housing and the local community at the group's annual meeting on Wednesday 10 November 1999.As part of an international initiative, Local Agenda 21 promotes community action, working locally to raise awareness and improve quality of life by concentrating on issues such as the environment, jobs, transport and development.
Marion Le Poidevin, Chairman of Poole Agenda 21, said: "Agenda 21 is about how each of us can do our bit to protect and enhance our local communities. If we think globally and act locally, we can help to ensure our children and grandchildren's quality of life in the future. Many people are concerned about their local community and the environment. By getting involved with Poole Agenda 21 you can learn about the many ways each of us to make a difference for the future".
Poole Agenda 21 have worked on a number of successful local projects including the Tatnam Organic Allotment and a £9,000 pond improvement scheme at Delph Woods, Tatnam and Canford Heath funded by the Environment Agency.
Officers from the Borough of Poole will be on hand with information on the Poole Local Plan to hear views on key issues such as transport, housing, employment and the town centre together with representatives from Earthkind, the marine environmental charity based on Poole Quay.
