SCHOOL'S PRESENT TIMELESS DRAMA

Pupils across Poole have been working on a series of short drama presentations based on the theme of time.

Using their own ideas and inspiration, groups from local schools and Poole and Bournemouth College have used improvisation to develop the unique pieces of drama.

Co-ordinated by the Borough of Poole's School Advice and Support Service, the result of their efforts will be seen at a grand performance in the Towngate Theatre, Poole Arts Centre on Sunday 21st November. As well as performing, students will also be involved with the technical staging of the drama, implementing their own ideas for areas such as lighting and sound.

John Billington, advisory teacher in charge, said: "It is really marvellous to see such a wide range of ages coming together to perform their own work in a real theatre. This is a celebration - and certainly not a competition - where all can enjoy the contributions of each other. I would like to thank teachers and parents for their support as well as the young people themselves who have given so much. Particular thanks should also go to Poole Arts Centre for their generous support of this exciting initiative".

The performance will be videoed and experienced by a much larger audience at Millennium Dome on 4 May 2000 when Dome visitors will be treated to Poole's "Our Town Story". Featuring music, drama and artwork by the Borough's young people as well as the video, "Our Town Story" will be on display in one of the Dome's pavilions, forming Poole's contribution to the Millennium experience.
