This playground was improved as part of the first year of the playbuilder project, by using the lower grass area within the fenced dog free area allowed us to increase the amount of exciting new play experiences for older children by installing a 30 metre cable way (zip wire) and a super rope end swing that can seat up to eight people. Picnic tables have also been installed on the lower level to encourage more family participation.
On the upper limit the old climbing frame and swings were retained and repainted new equipment has been installed suitable for younger children included a spinning rope cone climber, a buddy swing and a toddler climbing frame. The site is very popular with local children aged between 3 to14 who now have an exciting and challenging play facility.
The site was officially re-opened by the Mayor Councillor Charles Meachin on Friday 9th April 2010
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
This site is well serviced by footpaths from the surrounding roads and is accessible all year round. Car parking is available in the main car park accessed from Ringwood Road.
We encourage the use of all our facilities by everyone. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we could improve this facility for you.
