Learning in the Library

Your library is a storehouse of knowledge about all sorts of topics. If you want to design your garden, trace your family tree, write a CV, take up yoga or write a business plan, you will be sure to find a book on the subject. Check our catalogue to find the ones you want.

Study

Support your studies with our collection of study guides on curriculum topics, or swot up on study and exam techniques. We now offer free wi-fi in all our libraries so you can bring your laptop and study.

Online information

We also offer you free access to online information - if you are a library member you can access at home or in the library premium online resources such as Encyclopaedia Britannica – for free!

Learn a language online with our cassette or CD packs which are free to borrow from all libraries. We also have books to borrow in six languages other than English – Chinese, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish. You can find them in Poole Central Library. If you are learning or improving your English, try our Quick Reads (at all libraries) or Easy Reading books (at Poole Central and Rossmore).

Plan your further or higher education with university and college guides, information on grants, and books to help you manage student life; all available at Poole Central Library.

If you want to learn how to use a computer, we offer a programme of free computer taster sessions in the library, starting with the basics.
