Outcomes For Children And Young People

In 2004 the Government outlined five outcomes for Children & Young People.

The five outcomes are:

Be Healthy

This would mean that all children & young people are the following;

  • Physically Healthy
  • Mentally & Emotionally Healthy
  • Sexually Healthy
  • Lead a healthy lifestyle
  • Chose not to take drugs
 

Stay Safe

This would mean that all children & young people are the following;

  • Safe from malnutrition, neglect, violence & sexual exploitation
  • Safe from accidental injury & death
  • Safe from bullying & discrimination
  • Safe from crime & anti-social behaviour in & out of school
  • Have security, stability & are cared for
 

Enjoy & Achieve

This would mean that all children & young people achieve the following;

  • Ready for school
  • Attend & enjoy school
  • Achieve national educational standards at primary school
  • Achieve national educational standard at secondary school
  • Achieve personal & social development & enjoy recreation
 

Make a positive contribution

This would mean that all children & young people do the following;

  • Engage in decision making & support the community & environment
  • Engage in law-abiding & positive behaviour in & out of school
  • Develop positive relationships & choose not to bully or discriminate
  • Develop self confidence & successfully deal with significant changes & challenges
  • Develop enterprising behaviour
 

Achieve economic well being

This would mean that all children & young people do / have the following;

  • Engage in further education, employment or training on leaving school
  • Ready for employment
  • Live in decent homes & sustainable communities
  • Access to transport & material goods
  • Live in households free from low income
