Cluster Groups

Due to the reorganisation of Poole into three localities (West, East and South), some clusters within these areas have been altered to facilitate improved communication between practitioners working within a small geographical area.

What is an Early Years Cluster?

  • It is a group that meet on a regular basis consisting of practitioners from a range of settings including pre-schools, nurseries, network childminders and schools within a small geographical area.
  • Clusters within Poole have been reviewed so that there are now seven rather than six groups.
  • The clusters in each locality are listed below.

What is the purpose of an Early Years Cluster?

  • To  share good practice for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • To learn from each other and keep updated on new initiatives for example, 'Letters and Sounds'.
  • To discuss Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs.
  • To share ideas and resources.
  • To support the transition of children into school.
  • To enjoy networking with colleagues and build relationships between practitioners.

How do Early Years Clusters work?

  • Early Learning Advisory Teachers will facilitate each cluster.
  • The Early Years Adviser will be involved to ensure cohesive links between the seven clusters across Poole.

Also attending the meetings will be childcare officers, children centre managers and members of the specialist support team.

We are very excited about further developing clusters within Poole and know that this will not only inspire us as practitioners, but ultimately will mean more high quality learning opportunities for our children.

Poole West Locality  has 2 cluster groups

  • Canford Heath cluster covers Canford Heath

Poole East Locality also has 2 cluster groups
