Admissions Forum
The Education Act 2002 requires Admissions Forums to be set up in each local authority area.
The Poole Admissions Forum was established in 1999. Since that time the Forum has helped develop good local working arrangements between all the school admission authorities in Poole and with neighbouring local authorities (Bournemouth and Dorset).
The Forum comprises representatives of most of the school admission authorities for Poole schools. The admission authorities in Poole are:
- The local authority - for all Community and Voluntary Controlled schools
- The governing body of each of the Foundation and Voluntary Aided schools
Since its creation the Poole Admissions Forum has considered many matters concerning school admissions arrangements including:
- school admission policies
- a common application form
- common closing and notification dates
- school Published Admission Numbers
- co-ordinated admission arrangements
- hard to place pupils
- the publication of the annual Parents' booklet for admission to schools each September
Meetings of the Forum are held at individual secondary schools throughout the Borough, usually once a term (three meetings a year).
You can obtain further information on the Poole Admissions Forum from Children and Young People's Integrated Services.
